About BAROC:
Ballarat Austin Radiation Oncology Centre (BAROC) is located within the Ballarat Regional Integrated Cancer Centre (BRICC) and is operated by Austin Health. Ballarat is a vibrant regional hub offering easy access to Melbourne, surf coast shire beaches and the greater Grampians region. - 2 x Varian Trilogy Linear accelerators, with online image guidance, 6DoF robotic couch, Respiratory Gating, DIBH and VMAT treatment delivery (Capital replacement in progress, with Varian Truebeam Linacs along with the Vision RT Surface guidance platform scheduled for installation in 2025).
- Dedicated SABR treatment program utilising DCAT treatment delivery.
- Siemens definition AS 64 CT suite & Elekta Moanco planning system.
- Electronic medical record (EMR) using ARIA 15 Oncology Information System.
- Integration with a range of affiliated services including Medical Oncology, Clinical Trials, and a Wellness centre offering a broad range of support programs to promote our patient’s health in mind, body and spirit.
- Remote SXRT service based in Stawell, (Ballarat unit currently being commissioned for clinical use).
- Strong collaboration with our metropolitan site in Heidelberg, enabling cross-campus support, communication and knowledge sharing.
About the Role
Austin Health is seeking an enthusiastic Physics Registrar to complement our Physics team at the Ballarat Austin Radiation Oncology Centre (BAROC).
This is an entry level position. Graduates with MSc/PhD and current TEAPs are encouraged to apply. You must have a Physics undergraduate Major or a Masters/PhD in Medical Physics to be meet the position requirements.
Training and duties will cover all aspects of clinical radiation oncology physics with opportunities, and expectations, for the successful applicant to take an active role in clinical and research pursuits.
Strong communication skills are key to performing well in this post, as is the ability to meet deadlines, to be flexible and to work well within a team. Attendance at conferences, training and workshops aligned to TEAP outcomes will be supported.
We are undertaking major linac commissioning work in 2025 and you will be included in with immediate opportunities to upskill.

- A post-graduate qualification (Msc/PhD) in medical physics from a university course accredited by ACPSEM
- Eligible to enrol in the ACPSEM ROMP TEAP training program
- Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written formats.

- Work and communicate effectively in a multi-disciplinary team.
- Complete and comprehensively document work to a high standard with emphasis on accuracy and detail.
- Work according to set protocols
