About Ward 6 West and Ward 6 East 

The ward clerk role covers both 6 West which is a specialty surgical ward for Neurosurgical; Vascular Surgical and Ear Nose and throat surgical patients  under the surgical; Anaesthesia and Procedural Medicine division and Ward 6 East is a specialised Medical Ward under the Medical and Cancer Division caring for Stroke; Neurology and Epilepsy patients.

 

 

About the role 

The Ward Clerk provides administration support to both ward areas on Saturdays and Sundays and includes communication with medical teams and nursing; liaising with patients and visitors and assisting with admissions, discharges and the daily running of the units.

 

A regular day will see you:

  • Answering phone calls and relaying messages;
  • Communicating with the Nurse in charge to coordinate patient flow in and out of the wards;
  • Maintain records; book appointments and transport for patients.

 

 

About you 

As the ward clerk, You will be someone who enjoys working with a wide range of people in a dynamic environment. You will have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a strong focus in patient centred care. 

 

To be successful in this role, you'll bring with you:

  • administration experience; skills in Microsoft office suite
  • a high motivation to learn and develop
  • ability to remain calm under pressure
  • be able to effectively multitask
