About the Department

6 West sits under the Surgery, Anesthesia & Procedural Medicine (SAPM) division and is an acute inpatient specialty surgical ward with Neurosurgical; Vascular and Ear Nose and Throat patients. The unit consists of 32 beds; 4 of which are Neurosurgical High Dependency beds. 

Ward 6 East is aligned under the Medical and Cancer Division and cares for patients undergoing care and treatment for Epilepsy: Neurological conditions and Stroke management. 6 East is a 24-bed acute inpatient unit inclusive of a 4 bed Acute Stroke Unit and undertake Video epilepsy monitoring as part of the Comprehensive Epilepsy Program.

 

About the role 

This role requires the successful applicant to work across both 6 west and 6 east during each shift.

As a Ward Clerk, you will be patient and visitor facing; assisting visitors and patients; answering phone calls; communicating with nursing; medical and allied health staff and assisting with patient movement in and out of the organisation. 

 

About you 

You have a high level of professionalism in verbal, written and digital communication and an ability to work within a large team environment. The Ward Clerk role requires the individual to prioritise tasks; multitask and have sound knowledge of digital technology systems.
