About Volunteer Engagement
The Volunteer Engagement Team supports volunteers across all Austin Health sites and campuses to contribute to meaningful roles that enhance the experience of patients, families, staff and the wider community. Volunteer Engagement forms part of the broader Foundation team and is committed to creating positive, rewarding and well-supported volunteer experiences across the organisation.
About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced administrator to join our team on a fixed term 12-month position (parental leave). The position is 16 hours per week and is required to be performed onsite, with hours worked across either 2 or 3 days per week.
Providing support to the Volunteer Engagement Team and our volunteer workforce, this role is essential in coordinating the administrative functions that support Volunteer Engagement across Austin Health.
A regular day will see you:
- Supporting volunteer recruitment and onboarding processes.
- Managing shared inboxes, responding to phone enquiries and maintaining accurate volunteer records.
- Providing administrative support to the Advisors – Volunteer Engagement and Manager – Volunteer Engagement.
- Assisting with the coordination of volunteer training, events, and day-to-day team operations.

About you
You will be an excellent communicator with a passion for helping others. You are resilient, self-motivated and a strong team player, with the ability to remain flexible and use initiative when needed. You have a genuine appreciation for volunteers and the important difference they make to patients, families and staff.
To be successful in this role you’ll bring with you:
- Previous experience in supporting volunteers or community programs.
- Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships and work collaboratively within a team.
- A proactive and adaptable approach, with confidence to use initiative when required.
