About the Department of Nephrology
The Department of Nephrology at Austin Health strives to improve the lives of people with kidney disease and advance knowledge in kidney health. The department provides care for people with kidney disease across the spectrum of nephrology, including CKD, haemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis, pre- and post-renal transplantation, acute kidney injury, glomerulonephritis, and genetic diseases. Treatment of all forms of renal disease and hypertension is also supported, with interests including autoimmune diseases. It possesses the largest adult referral Nephrogenomics unit in Victoria. The Department is frequently called on to support patients with renal issues in the Liver Transplant Unit and the Intensive Care Unit.
About the role
The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) is an experienced registered nurse role.
This role will work alongside a nephrologist to provide virtual early care intervention for patients in early stages of kidney disease. The role will also work with General Practitioners to develop care plans for patients. The program aims to provide evidence-based, and patient centred early intervention for patients with kidney disease, aiming to improve patient knowledge, and reduce the future risk of adverse kidney or cardiovascular outcomes.

As the Clinical Nurse Consultant, you will be someone who has excellent communication skills, with a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. You’ll bring energy and drive to your work and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.
To be successful in this role, you'll bring with you:
- Substantial clinical experience in areas of acute care nursing.
- Minimum 4 years nursing experience
- Commitment to quality, best practice and environmental safety
- Patient preference focused approach to care delivery
- Demonstrated ability to perform as a sole practitioner
