About Respiratory and Sleep Medicine and VRSS

The Department of Respiratory and Sleep Medicine includes a busy 22 bed inpatient ward, including a dedicated ventilation weaning and respiratory high dependency unit, inpatient sleep study beds for ventilatory studies, complex pulmonary function and sleep laboratories and is connected with the Institute for Breathing and Sleep.

 

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced healthcare Administrative Assistant to work within the Victorian Respiratory Support Service - statewide home ventilation service.

 

About the role

​​​​​​​The purpose of this role is to provide a full range of administrative support to the to the Director, Deputy Director and Patient Services Manager of the Victorian Respiratory Support Service at Austin Health. You will work closely with clinical and non-clinical staff both within Austin Health and external health services.

 

This is a permanent, full-time role working 40 hours per week with a monthly ADO.

 

A regular day will see you:

  • Providing a wide range of administrative support including diary management, appointment coordination and meeting minutes
  • Monitoring a busy shared mailbox and responding to queries in a timely manner
  • Frequently liaising with external health services for results, appointment details and other shared patient information
  • Booking complex VRSS day admissions and sleep studies
  • Communicating with patients and booking their upcoming clinic appointments and diagnostic testing

About you

We are looking for someone with prior healthcare administration experience, excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to improving patient care.

 

You will also be:

  • Proactive, organised and able to multitask efficiently
  • IT savvy with the ability to pick up new systems quickly and troubleshoot
  • Flexible and adaptable to change
