We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Speech Pathologist to join our team to fill a leave cover role.
- Grade 2 Speech Pathologist
- Fixed term 06/01/25-30/06/25
- Full time 40 hrs per week with ADOs

About the Speech Pathology Department
We have over 40 speech pathologists working across all three sites of Austin Health, in acute care, sub-acute care, rehabilitation and community programs. We function as one department and work in clinical teams in a supportive, friendly environment. Our work includes clinical services, research, quality and improvement, staff and student education.
About the role
This position may work on any of the Austin Health sites under the guidance of the relevant acute and subacute Grade 4 stream leaders. In the course of a day, you may find yourself:
- Undertaking a swallowing assessment
- Learning how to undertake videofluoroscopy
- Attending a team meeting
- Participating in a quality activity
About you
- Approved degree in Speech Pathology or equivalent and eligible for certified practising membership of Speech Pathology Australia
- Experience in the assessment and management of patients with a wide range of neurological and medical diagnoses
- Experience in the assessment and safe management of dysphagic patients with varying aetiologies
- Ability to identify appropriate clients who would benefit from instrumental swallowing assessment
- Demonstrated ability to work independently
- Demonstrated flexibility and independence in caseload management, particularly in managing a busy and varied caseload
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to function effectively as a team member
- Demonstrated commitment to maintaining up-to-date knowledge of current literature
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated initiative and openness to communicate and discuss ongoing clinical issues and decisions with other department members
