About the Department
The Social Work Department aims to provide services to Austin Health patients and their families/carers which assists in the minimisation of the negative impacts of illness and hospitalisation. We aim to enhance social and emotional functioning through targeted interventions; whilst leading and excelling in research, teaching and the use of person[1]centred evidence-based practice.
About the role
As a casual Social Worker Grade 2, you will be responsible for providing clinical social work services to inpatients across one or more of our Austin Health sites. A regular day will see you work clinically with patients, attend family meetings and non-clinical meetings, and undertake other duties that support the social work department and its operations.
The position will be required to move across clinical areas, including acute and subacute sites as required.
- Apply your social work knowledge and skills to assess, treat and plan the discharge of patients
- Provide counselling to patients and families
- As required, supervise Grade 1 social workers and social work students
- Participate in quality improvement, service improvement and/or research
About you
You will be someone who has excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. You’ll bring energy and drive to you work and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.
To be successful in this role, you'll bring with you:
- A degree in Social Work
- Experience working in a hospital or health related setting
- The ability to work and contribute to team culture and work within a multidisciplinary environment
If you have experience working with vulnerable people and individuals who require support for complex discharge planning, assessing and responding to Family Violence and Child Safety risk, and / or knowledge about how to navigate NDIS and Aged Care systems, then we want you to join our team!
