  • Grade 3 Speech Pathologist commencing March 2026
  • Permanent, part time position working 22.8 hours (0.6 FTE) per week
  • Continuing Care work stream (providing clinical care and leadership across the Continuing Care stream
  • Our Grade 3 positions are situated within either Better@Home service, In-patient Aged Care & Rehabilitation Service, Neuro Rehabilitation or Acquired Brain Injury Unit

About the Speech Pathology Department

We have over 30 speech pathologists working across all three sites of Austin Health, in acute care, sub-acute care, rehabilitation, bed substitution and community programs. We function as one department and work in clinical teams in a supportive, friendly environment. Our work includes clinical services, research, quality and improvement, staff and student education.  

 

About the role 

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Speech Pathologist to join our team. This position is based within our Continuing Care work stream and will work as part of the Continuing Care team under the guidance of the Grade 4 Continuing Care stream leaders.

 

A regular day will see you:   

  • Undertaking a swallowing assessment  
  • Providing therapy as part of a goal driven rehabilitation program 
  • mentoring/supervising Grade 2 Speech Pathologist or Allied Health Assistant 
  • Supporting the team to plan and triage work for the day
  • Leading a quality improvement activity   

 

About you 

You will be someone who has excellent communication skills, with a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. You’ll bring energy and drive to your work, and have keen interest in developing your skillset.

 

To be successful in this role you’ll bring with you:

  • Eligible for certified practicing membership of Speech Pathology Australia
  • More than 7 years of relevant clinical experience
  • Demonstrated clinical skills in assessment and management of communication and swallowing disorders
  • Demonstrated commitment to evidence-based practice and ability to translate this into practice
  • Demonstrated expertise in teaching, training and education
