About PIRI

The Parent-Infant Research Institute (PIRI, www.piri.org.au) is advertising a senior position to join its expert team of clinical and academic staff. We are looking for a Senior Research Fellow with an understanding of psychological research. 

 

PIRI is currently engaged in a number of prestigious projects including a NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence (CRE). This STePPS CRE (steppscre.org) is a national centre driving the identification, development and translation of online mental health interventions in the first 1000 days of a child’s life. This built on our large implementation program of e-mental health services funded by the Federal Government MumSpace (www.mumspace.org.au). PIRI is considered an international leader in research in perinatal mental health and its impact on mothers, fathers and infants. 

 

About the role

We are looking for a team player with highly developed organizational skills, a sense of humour, initiative, and a readiness to flexibly multitask and keen to work within a growing research institute. 

 

The successful applicant will have the ability to make independent and original contributions to PIRI research and its impact, with a demonstrated record of published work in top peer-reviewed academic journals. They will be interested in a career direction in perinatal mental health, take a lead on selected academic tasks, research projects and be involved in grant applications.  

 

In addition, we are looking for an applicant who is interested in engaging in policy-relevant dissemination, advocacy and promotion of PIRI’s research. 

 

Other activities as needed: 

  • Overseeing specific projects with responsibility for adherence to relevant protocols, and involvement at each step including analysis.  
  • Supervising the conduct of a number of studies by junior research staff and students. 
  • Supporting the Executive Director in liaison with government and other agencies in the field of perinatal mental health 

 

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:  

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications 
  • Experience and interest in the delivery of online mental health interventions. 
  • IT literacy and relevant knowledge of digital programs.  
  • Outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail and time management. 
  • Research experience and the implementation of large programs is desirable. 
  • Well-developed data management skills. 
  • Track record in grant writing and academic publications. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills 
  • Ability to work both independently and in a busy team environment with a growing research institute.
