- Grade 3 Physiotherapist – Vestibular
- Part-Time – 0.2 EFT (8 hours) per week

About the Physiotherapy Department:
The Physiotherapy Department is committed to promoting the highest levels of care for our patients. In realising this goal, the department will lead and excel in research, teaching and the use of person-centred evidence-based practice. The department provides services on all three campuses of Austin Health, from the Emergency Department through to bed-based services and ongoing ambulatory care.
About the role:
The Grade 3 Vestibular Physiotherapist provides advanced, evidence‑based assessment and management of people presenting with dizziness, vertigo and balance disorders, working with a high level of clinical autonomy and accountability.
The role includes advanced vestibular and neurological assessment, differential diagnosis and identification of red flags, with timely escalation and referral to medical teams (e.g., ENT, Neurology, Emergency) where indicated. You will manage complex presentations (including persistent dizziness and multi‑factorial balance dysfunction) and contribute to safe, effective care pathways for patients under relevant specialty services.
As a senior clinician, you will also act as a clinical resource to physiotherapy and medical staff, contribute to education and capability building within the department, and participate in service development and quality improvement activities relevant to vestibular rehabilitation.
About you:
You’ll have excellent interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to be flexible in your approach to work.
To be successful in this role you’ll bring with you:
- Physiotherapist currently registered for practice in Australia (AHPRA)
- >7 years of clinical experience, including significant experience managing patients with vestibular and neurological conditions (inpatient and/or outpatients).
- Advanced knowledge of vestibular anatomy, pathophysiology and common conditions (e.g. BPPV, acoustic neuroma, unilateral or bilateral peripheral vestibular dysfunction, Meniere’s disease, mild head trauma and vestibular migraine involving dizziness, vertigo and or disequilibrium)
- Competence in vestibular assessment, clinical reasoning and interpretation of findings.
- Experience in delivering vestibular rehabilitation and canalith repositioning manoeuvres.
- Excellent understanding of scope of practice, including recognition of red flags and appropriate escalation
Desirable but not essential:
- Completed or currently undertaking relevant postgraduate qualification
- Experience working in outpatient or specialist dizziness/vertigo services
- Active participation in a professional community of practice or vestibular special interest group
