About the department 

The Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research Centre has been established at Austin Health to provide a holistic approach to cancer treatment and care, wellness and research with a state of the art cancer centre. Cancer Services is responsible for inpatient and ambulatory medical oncology and clinical haematology, palliative medicine and radiation oncology. The Cancer Clinical Trials Centre has over 200 trials and is a vibrant and growing unit. Incorporated within the ONJ Centre are strong undergraduate and graduate teaching programmes.

 

CCTC conducts a wide variety of trials nationally and internationally and has a reputation for excellence. The CCTC manages studies from Phase I- Phase III and includes investigator-initiated research, Collaborative Group and Pharmaceutical sponsored clinical trials. The atmosphere within CCTC is energetic, friendly and cohesive with a strong teamwork ethic amongst all members with regular meetings and investigators to discuss management issues.

 

About the role

An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic & highly experienced Research Fellow to join the Department of Medical Oncology and work with the Cancer Clinical Trials Centre (CCTC) at Austin Health. We are seeking Oncologists who are interested in developing Clinical Trial expertise in Medical Oncology. This position will commence in February 2026 for a period of 24 months and is suitable for a junior consultant. 

 

About you

You will be someone who has excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. You’ll bring energy and drive to you work, and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.

 

To be successful in this role you must:

  • Be a registered Medical Practitioner
  • Hold Fellowship of College of Physicians or similar
  • Have knowledge and experience in Medical Oncology
  • Have at least 1 year of previous experience as a sub-investigator in clinical trials
