About YPARC (Youth Prevention and Recovery Centre)

YPARC is a sub-acute Youth residential service, that provides recovery focused and evidenced-based mental health care. The service is co-run with Austin and MIND as a non-clinical service provider, in a model that combines developmentally appropriate clinical, recovery based and peer work. A YPARC stay is a short, intense period of support in the individual’s recovery journey of around 2 - 4 weeks’ duration.

The phases of care in YPARC are - ‘step-up’ – support for young people experiencing a first episode or a deterioration of their mental health, and ‘step-down’ – support and reconnection to home and community for the young person after a psychiatric inpatient admission.

The YPARC:

  • Provides opportunities for care in the least intrusive and restrictive way.
  • Supports people to make and participate in decisions about their assessment, treatments, and recovery.
