About Security Services Department
The Security Services Department, within the Information and Services Directorate services 3 sites and Mercy Hospital for Women. The department is an in-house service and operates 24/7.
The Security Services Department of Austin Health services patients, visitors and staff by:
- Protecting patients, visitors and staff from harm
- Maintaining an acceptable level of order, control and safety
- Protecting personal and Austin Health property from theft, misuse and vandalism.
- Perform the duties of this position efficiently and effectively to the standards of the Department
About the role
This role will supervise security operations at the Austin Health Latrobe University Vaccination Clinic. It may also provide shift leadership at any of the other 3 Austin Health sites.
A regular day will see you:
- Supervising security operations at the Austin Health Latrobe University Vaccination Clinic
- Leadership of all Security Staff as per shift across all campuses
- Ensure all security staff/contractors are on duty and on time
- Direct security staff/contractors as required for security operational requirements
- Responding to requests from Austin Health
- Conduct random patrols, visits of all security locations ensuring all security are in attendance, in correct uniform, understand and are performing their duties as required
- Assist with rosters and other administrative duties
- Conduct shift handovers, checking and accounting for all security equipment, information in regards to any previous as well as any further follow up of outstanding tasks
About you
As the Security Shift Leader, you will be someone who has excellent communication skills, with a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. You’ll bring energy and drive to your work, and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.
To be successful in this role, you'll bring with you:
- Hold and maintain a current Level II Security / Crowd Controllers licence and First Aid Certificate
- To be reliable and commitment to Austin Health values.
- The ability to lead a team
- The ability to show restraint and control in dealing with difficult situations
- The ability to compile detailed reports
