About the RUSON Program
RUSONs (Registered Undergraduate Students of Nursing) at Austin Health may work across any of our three sites—Austin Hospital, Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital, and Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre. As part of multidisciplinary nursing teams, RUSONs contribute to ward-based care and gain exposure to a wide range of clinical environments. This experience supports professional development and offers valuable insight into diverse patient care settings.
About the Role
The RUSON role is a paid opportunity for nursing students to gain hands-on clinical experience while completing their studies. Working under the supervision of registered nurses, RUSONs perform delegated tasks that support patient care and enhance their learning. The role is designed to build confidence, strengthen clinical skills, and prepare students for future nursing practice in a supportive and dynamic healthcare environment.
About you
You will be someone who enjoys working as a part of a supportive team committed to excellence in patient care. You’ll have an interest in self-development and education, and actively seek out opportunities to grow your skillset.
You’ll further have: A commitment to delivering high quality, patient centred care. Be caring, pro-active and have an engaging manner. Currently in possession of a Working With Children Check, Ability to work both AM and PM shifts (around clinical placement), Must be enrolled in a Bachelor of Nursing and completed your first year of study
