About the department
Austin Health’s Acute Psychiatric Unit (APU) is part of the Mental Health Division at Austin Health and is located on the Austin Hospital Campus. The APU is a 24-bed inpatient unit providing the following services: 19 acute beds for the North East Area Mental Health Service (NEAMHS) covering the municipalities of Banyule and Nillumbik and a regionalised specialist Program of 5 inpatient Eating Disorder Program beds.
The Eating Disorders Unit is an inpatient program and caters for adults with severe and enduring eating disorders who require a supportive therapeutic program to recover their health and develop their understanding of the pathways to recovery. The team is multidisciplinary and includes a Psychiatrist, Registrar, Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, Dietician and nurses.
About the role
Austin Health is seeking compassionate and skilled Registered Psychiatric Nurses (RPN2) to join our multidisciplinary team (MDT) within the Acute Psychiatric Unit (APU). This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and recovery-oriented mental health service.
As an RPN2, you will deliver evidence-based, person-centred care in collaboration with the MDT. You will play a key role in assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care, contributing to the recovery journey of our consumers.
Both programs have "safewards" imbedded in their practice and we are looking for compassionate staff with patient centred care at the core of their practice. We have both permanent full and/or part time positions available.
