About The Community Recovery Program

The Community Recovery Program (CRP) is a collaboration between Austin Health (AH), Mind Australia (Mind) and Forensicare. CRP offers 22, purpose-built units and delivers safe, supportive and recovery-focussed residential care in a similar model to a Continuing Care Unit. The catchment area includes the local government areas of Banyule and Nillumbik. Clinical and recovery-focussed support is provided by both Austin Health staff and Mind Australia Community Mental Health Practitioners. Clinical support is on offer 24 hours/7days. The partnership between Austin Health, Mind Australia and Forensicare recognises the unique opportunity to provide people experiencing severe mental health issues and complex needs and their carers/families with residential support, treatment and strategies to manage mental health problems and engage them in recovery focussed interventions and activities to maximise long term community integration. Whilst Austin Health has primary responsibility for clinical governance, all CRP staff work collaboratively to deliver clinical and psychosocial recovery support to residents, their families and carers.
