About Ward 5 East 

Ward 5 East is a dynamic 32-bed unit specialising in cardiac and thoracic surgery and cardiology medicine. It contains a 12-bed High Dependency Unit caring for cardiac medical and surgical patients and thoracic surgery patients and has telemetry monitoring facilities for 18 beds. The unit is committed to patient-centred, evidence-based care and is dedicated to continuing professional development for all staff. 

About the role  

As the Registered Nurse, you will assume the clinical management of a wide complexity of patients, in addition to supporting the wide range of staff and systems that reinforce safe, high-quality care. The unit is committed to patient-centred, evidence-based care and is dedicated to continuing professional development for all staff. 

A regular day will see you:    

• Manage the care and support of cardiology procedural patients, post operative surgical patients, acute ED admissions and patients transferred from ICU post cardiac surgery. 
• Support the ward processes in a high patient access and flow environment. 
• Provide patient education to enable patients to make informed decisions about their treatments and planned procedures whilst in hospital and post discharge 

About you  

To be successful in this role you’ll bring with you: 

• Substantial clinical experience in area of speciality and hold a Post-Graduate qualification in Critical Care or equivalent
• Dedication to delivering outstanding patient centred care 
• Ability to assist and support the implementation of quality and change management initiatives and clinical projects. 
• Commitment to continuing your professional development to advance your nursing practice
