About Ward 2 West Paediatrics

The Paediatric ward (2 West) is a 16-bed general paediatric unit. The 16 beds are utilised by the following specialties: Paediatric Medicine, Epilepsy, Plastics, Ear Nose and Throat, and Orthopaedics. The ward admits from birth to 18 years of age. The Paediatric ward offers specialist Paediatric programs for Eating Disorders, Diabetes and Epilepsy. 

About the role 

As a Registered Nurse in Ward 2 West, you will be responsible for delivering evidence-based nursing care in designated medical specialties to optimize community health outcomes.   

A regular day will see you:   

• Support a philosophy of care, which is patient focused, from admission to discharge, and where the family is welcome in the carers team 

• Ensure the well-being and safety of patients by following the values and principles, which underpin best practice in relation to patient care, education, and patient rights 

• Achieve and maintain the skills necessary, through professional development, to plan, prioritise and implement holistic patient care

You will be someone who enjoys working as a part of a supportive team committed to excellence in patient care.  You’ll have an interest in self-development and education and actively seek out opportunities to grow your skillset.  

To be successful in this role you’ll bring with you:

• Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia Registered Nurse registration  

• Acute clinical experience and knowledge   

• Meet the selection criteria within the position description   

• A commitment to quality, best practice and environmental safety   

• The ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form
