About the department
6 West is a 32 bed in patient unit which also encompasses a 4 bed Neurosurgical High Dependency Unit. The ward cares for patients undergoing aspects of neurosurgical; vascular and ear nose and throat interventions
About the role
The typical day is fast paced and dynamic with patient movement; admissions; discharges, transfer to other departments such as neuro and Vascular labs; radiology and theatre. The nursing care will expose successful candidates to an array of specialised skills such as complex wound therapy; tracheostomy and laryngectomy care; CVADs; and complex pain management.
There is also an opportunity to professionally develop skills enabling successful candidates to work towards working in the Neurosurgical Hight Dependency Unit or completion of Post Graduate studies in Neuroscience.
