About Nurse Bank (General Nursing)

This is a rare opportunity to join Austin Health in a casual position for General Nurse Bank.The Nursing Workforce Unit is recruiting highly experienced and motivated Registered Nurses to work across all areas over the three campuses of Austin Health.

 

Successful applicants will possess a patient centred approach to care delivery and enjoy the challenge of working with a variety of medical and surgical conditions. Our Austin Bank nurses are an important part of the organisation in supporting the Nursing Workforce.

 

Working on Austin Bank allows you to design your own roster to support your lifestyle through our easy to navigate online system. You will be part of a flexible Workforce, and may receive shifts at short notice or up to 4 weeks in advance as available. You will have the opportunity to work in various medical and surgical specialties, incorporating:

 

  • Acute Care
  • Continuing Care
  • Specialty Areas (e.g. ICU, Emergency, Perioperative, Paediatrics) for those with relevant experience and/or qualification.

 

About the role 

A regular day will see you:

  • Practice within current scope of practice in accordance with legislation and policy 
  • Practise in a way that acknowledges the dignity, culture, values, beliefs and rights of individuals /groups and aligning to Austin Health’s organisational values. 
  • Act as an advocate for patients within organisational and management structures of Austin Health. 
  • Understand Registered Nurses accountability in the supervision and delegation framework.  
  • Provide an excellent standard of nursing care, supported by your colleagues and the Nursing Education Unit.

 

About you

You will be someone who enjoys working as a part of a supportive team committed to excellence in patient care.  You’ll have an interest in self-development and education, and actively seek out opportunities to grow your skillset. 

 

You’ll further have:

  • Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia Registered Nurse registration   
  • Minimum of 12 months acute clinical experience and knowledge  
  • Have Australian working rights  
  • A commitment to quality, best practice and environmental safety  
  • Commit to being available to work a minimum of one shift a week or two shifts per fortnight
  • The ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form
