About Radiology & MIT
Austin Health Radiology & MIT is a large tertiary medical imaging service which delivers more than 180,000 examinations and interventional procedures each year across multiple campuses. Services span acute inpatient, emergency, outpatient and specialist imaging and are supported by a skilled multidisciplinary workforce.
Radiology & MIT play critical roles in patient diagnosis and management across Austin Health and works closely with clinical, operational and corporate stakeholders to ensure safe, timely and high‑quality care. About the role
An opportunity exists for a Billing Supervisor to join Austin Health on a 12‑month fixed‑term basis, covering a period of parental leave. This is an excellent opportunity to lead an established team and make an immediate impact.
Reporting to the Radiology & MIT Business Manager, this role is responsible for supervising the Medicare billing functions, ensuring billing processes are accurate, timely and compliant with Medicare, TAC, WorkCover, private health fund requirements.
You will provide day‑to‑day leadership to a small team of billing staff, oversee workload allocation and validation, monitor billing performance, and support continuous improvement initiatives across billing processes and documentation.
About you
You are an organised and proactive people leader with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage workloads in a high‑volume environment. You have excellent communication skills, enjoy working collaboratively, and take a practical, solutions‑focused approach to continuous improvement.
To be successful in this role you’ll bring with you:
- Experience supervising or leading a small administrative team
- Strong organisational, time‑management and problem‑solving skills
- Confidence working across multiple systems, including intermediate Excel skills
- Experience using Microsoft Teams, SharePoint and reporting tools such as Power BI
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- A commitment to quality, accuracy and Austin Health values
Desirable (but not essential):
- Experience in patient billing or healthcare administration
- Familiarity with Medicare billing processes or public hospital environments
