About the Mental Health Division

Austin Health’s Acute Psychiatric Unit (APU) is part of the North East Mental Health Service and is located on the Austin Hospital Campus. The APU is a 24 bed inpatient unit providing the following services: 19 acute beds for Adult and older adults experiencing acute mental health issues for the North East Area Mental Health Service (NEAMHS) covering the municipalities of Banyule and Nillumbik and 1 specialised statewide Eating Disorder Program comprising of 5 beds.  

About the role 

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic Grade 2 psychologist to join our multidisciplinary team. The position available is a fixed term contract covering parental leave for 22.8 hours per week in our Adult and Older Adult Acute Program 

Applications are encouraged from psychologists who are passionate about acute mental health care and wish to contribute to positive outcomes for consumers and their families.

A regular day will see you:   

• Attend and collaborate in handovers and clinical review meeting
• Individual sessions with consumers as referred in clinical meetings including developing safety plans with consent of consumer

About you 

As the Grade 2 psychologist, You will be someone who has excellent communication skills, with a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. You’ll bring energy and drive to your work, and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.

To be successful in this role, you'll bring with you:

• Ability to respectfully collaborate with disciplines of our Multi Disciplinary Team
• Ability to prioritise work load in a fast paced environment
