About the Mental Health Division and HOPE

Austin Health’s Mental Health Division (MHD) provides care and services through a comprehensive range of teams to meet the needs of mental health consumers and carers throughout Victoria.  Services in the MHD are located across Austin Health and in the community. 

 

HOPE is a short-term, community-based case management service providing up to 12 weeks of assertive, personalised support.

 

About the role

Working collaboratively with adults aged 18+, their families and other services, you will have the opportunity to provide timely, focused interventions that can make a real difference to recovery and wellbeing to adult consumers of all ages.

The role offers a diverse range of clinical work, including suicide risk formulation, diagnostic assessment, collaborative safety planning, medication advice, brief therapeutic interventions and supportive counselling. You’ll work alongside a skilled and supportive multidisciplinary team, helping young people navigate periods of significant distress while building pathways towards ongoing care and recovery.

 

This is a senior Medical Position and carries with it the professional responsibilities of clinical leadership, teaching and training as well as administrative requirements. 

 

About you 

You will be someone who has excellent communication skills, with a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. You’ll bring energy and drive to your work and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.

 

You’ll further bring with you: 

  • Medical Practitioner registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists or equivalent post graduate specialist qualification.
  • Experience in providing services to people with serious mental illness.
  • A commitment to community approaches to the care of the mentally ill and providing support for their families.
  • Demonstrated commitment to high quality patient care.
