About Capital Works

Capital Works and Infrastructure are responsible for capital projects throughout the Austin Hospital (AH), Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre (RTRC) and the Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital (HRH) and outlying services

 

About the role

The core responsibility of this role is to manage the contractor / client interface, ensuring that services isolations are in place, risks are appropriately managed and that stakeholders requirements are met.  

A regular day on the project will see you:

  • Partner with clinical, operational and project stakeholders to deliver the Emergency Department expansion while ensuring continuity of patient care and hospital operations.
  • Manage project program, scope and risks, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with organisational objectives.
  • Oversee work, health and safety at the project / hospital interface to ensure that all work is carried out safety.
  • Drive project quality and compliance, proactively resolving complex issues and ensuring all works meet regulatory, safety and operational standards.

 

This is an exciting opportunity to work on a large scale construction project and learn how to manage projects within a live tertiary health environment. At the completion of the project (scheduled for 2029), you will transition back into the Capital Works team and manage refurbishment and infrastructure replacement projects as per the Position Description.

 

About You

Ideally, the suitable candidate for this role will have previous Project Manager experience, with 2-3 years of construction experience working on projects in live environments or a Contract Administrator with 5+ years experience looking to transition to Project Management.  

You’ll also bring with you: 

  • Proven experience in the construction industry.  
  • Outstanding stakeholder engagement, negotiation and relationship-building skills.  
  • Strong project management expertise, with the ability to balance competing priorities and deliver outcomes.  
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.  
  • Highly developed analytical and problem-solving abilities, with sound judgement and attention to detail. 
  • Qualifications in Construction or Project Management
