About the Physiotherapy Department:  

The Physiotherapy Department is committed to promoting the highest levels of care for our patients. In realising this goal, the department will lead and excel in research, teaching and the use of person-centred evidence-based practice. The department provides services on all three campuses of Austin Health, from the Emergency Department through to bed-based services and ongoing ambulatory care.  

  

About the role:  

This position is designed to provide cover for Senior Physiotherapy roles within the department across all campuses and in the at home programmes. Where significant leave is taken this Clinical role will step in and provide and support patient care by helping supervise and support junior staff and maintain the Clinical Staff Profile of the area . 

 

A day in the role will see you  

  • Grade 3 Physiotherapist – Leave Cover Responsibilities 
  • Provide short-term or extended clinical cover for senior staff during periods of planned or unplanned leave. 
  • Provide wholistic patient care across a broad range of services in the acute or subacute or outpatient settings 
  • Be accountable for the clinical competency of early career physiotherapists / supervisees / physiotherapy students 
  • Ensure connection to and credibility with clinical staff on site and gain an understanding of the challenges and opportunities for clinical educative initiatives for each site 

 

About you:  

  • Physiotherapist currently registered for practice in Australia (AHPRA) 
  • A commitment to Austin Health values: our actions show we care; we bring our best; together we achieve; we shape the future 
  • Significant experience in teaching early career physiotherapists as well as undergraduate and post graduate students 
  • Significant exposure to pedagogical theory and principles of adult learning 
  • Significant physiotherapy experience of working in a tertiary level hospital 

 

Desirable but not essential: 

  • Masters level or other higher education qualification in health professionals education. 
  • A sound understanding of information technology including clinical systems, applications relevant to risk management reporting as required for the role. 
  • Proficiency with Cerner, Kronos, Riskman, and other relevant IT applications.
