  • Grade 3 Physiotherapist – TRAMS (Tracheostomy Review and Management Service)

About the Physiotherapy Department and TRAMS:

The Physiotherapy Department provides services across all Austin Health campuses, covering acute, sub-acute and rehabilitation care. It also supports education and research with strong affiliations to the University of Melbourne. The Tracheostomy Review and Management Service (TRAMS) is a multidisciplinary consultative service that supports tracheostomy care from hospital to community and leads education, policy, and service development in this field.

 

About the role:

This Grade 3 role provides expert clinical physiotherapy to patients with tracheostomies across the acute and community settings. As a clinical leader in the TRAMS team, you will deliver high-level patient care, lead service development initiatives, support research and education, and mentor junior staff.

 

A day in the role will see you:

· Delivering advanced clinical care to patients with tracheostomies as part of the TRAMS

· Acting as a senior clinician providing consultation and expertise across Austin Health and externally

· Leading physiotherapy service development and contributing to strategic and policy initiatives

· Coordinating and delivering tracheostomy-related teaching to staff and students

· Supervising and mentoring Grade 1 and 2 physiotherapists

· Participating in quality improvement, research, and risk management activities

· Liaising with national and international bodies including the Global Tracheostomy Collaborative

 

About you:

You are a highly skilled physiotherapist with extensive experience in tracheostomy management. You’re passionate about delivering excellent patient care, mentoring others, and advancing clinical practice through innovation, research, and education.

You will further have:

· AHPRA registered with at least 7 years of relevant clinical experience

· Recognised as a leader in tracheostomy and ventilator care

· Demonstrated experience in clinical supervision, teaching and service development

· Strong research or quality improvement background

· High-level communication, teamwork and leadership skills
