  • Grade 3 Physiotherapist – Movement Disorders Clinic (0.2 EFT)

About the Physiotherapy Department:

The Physiotherapy Department spans three Austin Health campuses and consists of ~112 EFT staff. It delivers clinical services 7 days a week to acute, sub-acute, outpatient, and community settings. It maintains strong research and education partnerships with Swinburne University and the University of Melbourne.

 

About the Role:

This Grade 3 Physiotherapist position supports the Movement Disorders Clinic by providing expert neurological physiotherapy assessment and intervention, particularly in the management of spasticity and dystonia. Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, you will lead care planning, provide consultative input across sites, and mentor junior staff.

 

A Day in the Role Will See You:

· Conducting advanced neurological assessments focused on movement disorders.

· Collaborating with neurologists and nurses in the Movement Disorders Clinic (fortnightly Thursdays 8am12pm).

· Planning post-botulinum toxin intervention management (exercise, referrals, education).

· Leading outcome measure evaluations and contributing to treatment review decisions.

· Supporting training and supervision of Grade 1 and 2 staff attending the clinic.

About You:

You are a highly skilled neurological physiotherapist who brings clinical leadership, education experience, and a passion for evidence-based patient care. You value multidisciplinary collaboration and are committed to improving outcomes for patients with complex neurological presentations.

You have:

· AHPRA registration as a physiotherapist.

· Significant experience in a tertiary hospital setting with neurological patients.

· Advanced clinical reasoning in spasticity/dystonia assessment and management.

· Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

· Experience in clinical education and mentoring.

· Commitment to professional development and Austin Health values.

 

Desirable:

· Postgraduate or research qualifications (e.g. Masters, PhD).

· Experience supervising research students or junior clinicians.

· Proficiency with relevant clinical and administrative IT systems.
