About the Pharmacy Department
The Pharmacy Department Mission Statement is: “Working together to provide optimum pharmaceutical care”.
Comprehensive pharmacy services are provided at the two main sites of Austin and Repatriation hospitals and also to Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre. Pharmacy staff participate in a coordinated work team via a roster system, and they work at different sites (as needed) in order to provide an integrated, high quality service to all pharmacy department customers.
Our philosophy is to foster a learning environment and to promote teamwork as the best method to deliver day to day services, for both our consumers and staff members. A priority for all pharmacy staff members must be to use every available opportunity to demonstrate the value of the pharmacy services to our consumers.
About the role
This role delivers high-quality, safe, and efficient clinical pharmacy services to complex haematology and palliative care patients. It involves conducting comprehensive medication reviews in outpatient clinics, coordinating prescriptions, and supporting patients before and after bone marrow transplants. You'll provide post-discharge and rapid access clinic reviews, ensuring optimal medication management. The role also includes contributing to education and training programs for pharmacy interns, undergraduates, and residency participants. Additional responsibilities include participating in weekend and on-call rosters, supporting workplace safety, and assisting in maintaining compliance with healthcare quality standards.
About you
You will be someone who has excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. You’ll bring energy and drive to you work, and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.
You’ll further have:
- Registered as a pharmacist with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Authority (AHPRA)
- Extensive hospital pharmacy experience in haematology and/or palliative care (minimum 5 years)
- Demonstrated advanced clinical pharmacy knowledge
- Master of Clinical Pharmacy Practice or equivalent post-registration qualifications (e.g. extensive clinical experience, Board of Pharmacy Specialties certification, and/or accreditation as an Advanced Practice Pharmacist)
- Effective and courteous communication skills
- Demonstrated teamwork, initiative, and motivation
- Strong commitment to providing high quality care
- Ability to represent the pharmacy department on internal or external committees
- Proven ability to identify and solve problems
