• BALLARAT- Patient Services Assistant, Casual Position

Austin Health is the major provider of tertiary health services, health professional education and research across 3 campuses in the northeast of Melbourne and state-wide. Austin Health is world-renowned for its research and specialist work in cancer, liver transplantation, spinal cord injuries, neurology, endocrinology, mental health and rehabilitation.

An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic Patient Services Assistant to join our Radiation Oncology Department, part of the Ballarat Regional Integrated Cancer Centre (BRICC)

About Radiation Oncology

Austin Health is one of four health service ‘hubs’ in Victoria which operate radiotherapy services. Austin Health operates two radiation oncology centres in Victoria under the State Governments hub and spoke model. The metro hub is based at the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research Centre (ONJ Centre) in Heidelberg and the Ballarat Austin Radiation Oncology Centre (BAROC) is housed in the Ballarat Regional Integrated Cancer Centre (BRICC). Both centres provide multidisciplinary care including both nursing and allied health services, innovative and progressive approaches to treatment underpinned by the guiding principle of patient centred care and wellness for all patients.     

The multi-disciplinary teams at both sites are committed to excellence in practice and care. Staff undertake a range of professional development activities, are involved in research trials and liaise and consult with a wide range of specialists and health care professionals to ensure the care offered is at the leading edge of technology. The equipment at both sites is state-of-the-art, and the treatment options available ensure every disease site is treated according to best practice.     

About the role

The role of the PSA involves the performance of a wide range of tasks including:

• assist in the delivery of safe, timely and quality patient services.
• to assist in the maintenance of a clean and safe environment for patients, staff and visitors
• assist with transport of patients and
• general PSA duties

About you

To be successful in the role you will need to:

• Have a commitment to Austin Health values
• PSA Certificate – Certificate III in Health (Patient Services)
• Willing to work in a hospital environment with sick people
• Flexible attitude
• Willingness to carry out all PSA duties and tasks and work in a team
• Ability to use initiative and to prioritise tasks and problem solve
• Physically capable of undertaking the full range of PSA duties
• Basic verbal and written English skills
• Ability to work in a high functioning team environment
