About the Secure Extended Care Unit
The Secure Extended Care Unit (SECU) is part of the Mental Health Division at Austin Health. SECU is a 25-bed regional service which provides a rehabilitation and recovery service to individuals from 18 years, unremitting mental health symptoms and complex needs and who need the support of a secure environment. The SECU provides therapeutic care in a contained and structured environment.

 

About the role 

We are seeking dedicated Patient Services Assistants to help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming space for patients and staff. This is permanent, part time position working 28.5 hours per week. 

 

A regular day will see you:   

  • Serve consumer meals with care and kindness
  • Monitor and restock food supplies
  • Collect trays and maintain pantry areas
  • Keep all patient areas clean
  • Perform routine and deep cleaning of patient and staff areas
  • Disinfect beds and clean rooms post-discharge
  • Manage waste and linen removal safely
  • Restock supplies and assist with urgent deliveries
  • Support the nursing team with essential tasks

 

 

About you 

To be successful in this role you’ll bring with you:

  • Relevant qualification PSA Certificate – Certificate III in Health (Patient Services)
  • Willing to work in a hospital environment with unwell people
  • Flexible attitude to work requirements and routine depending upon the need of the unit
  • Ability to use initiative and to prioritise tasks and problem solve
  • A strong commitment to patient care and safety.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive attitude.
  • Ability to work well in a team and independently.
