About the SAPM Division 

The Surgery, Anaesthesia and Procedural Medicine (SAPM) Division is the largest operational division at Austin Health. It encompasses a wide range of specialties including Theatres, Endoscopy, Cardiology, Orthopaedics, Transplant Surgery, and more. Our PSAs are essential to the smooth operation of these services, supporting both clinical teams and patients. 

 

About the role 

As a Patient Services Assistant, you will play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and supportive environment for patients, visitors and staff. You will assist with patient transport, environmental cleaning, and support nursing staff in daily operations across various departments including Recovery, Endoscopy, Operating Theatres, and surgical wards. 

A regular day will see you: 

  • Perform terminal and infectious cleans in patient areas 
  • Assist with patient transport and mobility under supervision 
  • Maintain cleanliness of patient rooms, bathrooms, and communal areas 
  • Replenish consumables and support service areas 
  • Collaborate with nursing and support staff to ensure high-quality care 

 

About you 

As a Patient Services Assistant, you will be someone who has excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. You’ll bring energy and drive to your work and have a keen interest in developing your skillset. 

To be successful in this role, you'll bring with you: 

  • Certificate III in Health (Patient Services) 
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills 
  • Physical fitness and ability to perform manual tasks 
  • Flexibility to work across a 24/7 rotating roster 
  • A commitment to infection control and patient confidentiality
