About the Nursing Workforce Unit

The Nursing Workforce Unit is responsible for timely recruitment and allocation of the supplementary workforce into departmental vacancies across Austin Health. As a Patient Services Assistant for PSA Pool, you will be working across all three sites of Austin Health, that is the Austin Campus, the Repatriation Campus and Royal Talbot. Our Pool PSAs are allocated to fill roster vacancies, according to the organisational demands. 

 

About the role 

The PSA Pool team members are essential for day-to-day support across all areas of Austin Health, assisting in tasks including patient movement, food services and cleaning and restocking.

 

Supported by the PSA team, a regular day will see you:

  • Attend to patient movements, under supervision/ direction of the nursing team
  • Attend to patients' food and beverages- serving meals and other associated tasks
  • Routine and periodical cleaning tasks
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Nurse-In-Charge

 

About you 

As a member of the PSA Pool team, you will enjoy working as part of the team, and will have a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. You’ll bring energy and drive to your work, and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.

 

You’ll further bring with you: 

  • Completed PSA Certificate – Certificate III in Health (Patient Services)  
  • Willingness to perform all PSA duties and tasks and work in a team  
  • Physically capable of undertaking the full range of PSA duties  
  • Ability to use initiative and to prioritise tasks and problem solve  
  • A commitment to Austin Health values 
  • Basic verbal and written English skills  
  • Basic computer literacy
