  • Grade 4 Pathology Collector – Team Leader
  • Full-time | 40 hours per week
  • $36.70 per hour + generous salary packaging + superannuation + 10% Senior Allowance + Accrued Day Off (ADO) every month

About the Pathology department

Austin Health Pathology provides services to not only Austin Health and the co-located Mercy Hospital for Women in Heidelberg, but also to numerous GPs and specialists in the metropolitan and regional community. We are committed to providing high quality patient care through routine and complex diagnostic services, expert advice and support for teaching and research.

 

About the role 

As a Pathology Collector Team Leader, you will ensure the highest level of service at all times to our patients and clients, in both the hospital and outpatient settings. You will ensure specimen integrity is maintained and patient care is at the centre of everything you do.

 

A regular day will see you:   

  • Collect blood and non-blood samples with accuracy, care, and professionalism.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records for every patient and specimen collected.
  • Prepare, label, and package specimens to ensure safe and timely transport to the laboratory.
  • Manage efficient, fair, and cost-effective staff rostering to meet workload and quality requirements.
  • Oversee ordering of consumables and ensure adequate stock levels are maintained.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and compliant work environment.
  • Support the selection, onboarding, training, and competency assessment of staff as required.
  • Perform On-Call duties, responding to staff phone calls and operational needs.
  • Oversee and manage timesheet entries for team members.
  • Assist the Home Visit Department when required.

  • Experience and expertise in all aspects of pathology collection.
