About the Legal Office

The Legal Office is a unit within the Chief Executive’s Office. The Legal Office is responsible for providing a wide range of legal services to Austin Health.  The office comprises General Counsel, Associate Director Medicolegal, Senior Legal Counsels, Contract Administrator and Administrative Support.

 

About the Role

As a Paralegal within the Legal Office, you will work collaboratively with a supportive tea of legal professionals, who are passionate about providing high quality legal services for the health service. A regular day will see you:

  • Drafting legal documentation and conduct legal research.
  • Respond and/or triage requests for legal assistance.
  • Retrieve critical information and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations to inform case development and legal strategies.
  • Work closely with Senior Legal Counsel and Associate Director Medicolegal to respond to requests for legal assistance and advice.

 

About you

You will be someone who has excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to excellence in legal services. You’ll bring energy and drive to you work and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.

 

You’ll further have:

  • Completed or currently studying degree in Law
  • Strong research and writing skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, problem solve and prioritise
  • Work independently and within a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Make decisions and think “outside the box” in making recommendations for improvements to processes and tools
