About the Ophthalmology Department

The Ophthalmology Unit, as part of the Surgery, Anaesthesia & Procedural Medicine Division, is responsible for the provision of services within the specialty to patients across Austin Health. Primarily located on the Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital site, the Unit is committed to the provision of high-quality patient care and maintains an ongoing commitment to Undergraduate and Post Graduate teaching. Also provided is a consultative service for other Units within Austin Health.  

 

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic and highly experiencedOphthalmologistto join ourOphthalmology Department.  

  • Hours per week: 3.5 hours 
  • Employment Type: Fixed Term Fractional
  • Appointment Period: 7th July 2025 - 7th January 2026

 

About you

To be successful for this role you must:  

  • Be a registered Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)  
  • Hold a Fellowship of theAustralian Learned CollegeRoyal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologistsor equivalent  
  • Hold an Oculoplastic Fellowship, trained to perform oculoplastic and nasolacrimal drainage procedures (essential)
  • Have appropriate training and experience applicable to the field ofOphthalmology  
  • Demonstrate a commitment to high quality patient care  
  • Demonstrate a commitment to working as a team member with peer medical, junior medical, nursing and other clinical staff to provide efficient, safe and quality care across the continuum, and  
  • Demonstrate a commitment to teaching, training and research.
