  • Part-time, fixed term position until June 2026 
  • Working 15.2 hours (2 days) per week based in Heidelberg
  • Base salary + salary packaging + super + 5 weeks annual leave

About the Mental Health Division       

The division provides care and services through a comprehensive range of teams, to meet the needs of mental health consumers and carers throughout Victoria.  All services work within a clinical framework that promotes recovery-oriented practice and supported decision making.      

 

About the role 

Austin’s Primary Mental Health Team (PMHT) provides one-off comprehensive mental health assessments to consumers aged 18+years (with low acute risks), and recommendations to the consumer and treating team. PMHT primary role is to support primary providers in their ongoing support of the consumer. This role also includes an opportunity for brief individual counselling and family work.   

 

A regular day will see you:   

  • Triaging referrals received from local GP’s 
  • Providing a comprehensive mental health assessment 
  • Report writing that outlines treatment and support options for the ongoing treatment team on behalf of the consumers. 
  • Community engagement with local mental health providers, psychosocial support services and GPs 

 

About you 

You will be someone with excellent communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills, who takes a highly compassionate approach to their work. 

 

To be successful in this role you’ll bring with you:

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience     
  • Registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse with successful completion of a specialist undergraduate psychiatric nursing program or a Postgraduate Psychiatric/mental health nursing qualification;  
  • An approved degree in Occupational Therapy and registration with AHPRA as an Occupational Therapist;   
  • An approved degree in Social Work and eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers;  
  • Psychologists must be registered with a specialist endorsement in Clinical Psychology, Clinical Neuropsychology or Forensic Psychology, or working towards  
  • A current Victorian Driver’s License and ability to drive a work vehicle
