About Medical Oncology department/division

The Austin Cancer Centre has been established at Austin Health to provide a complete range of services to patients with malignant disease and includes the ONJCWC. The Cancer Centre is responsible for inpatient medical oncology and clinical haematology, ambulatory medical oncology and clinical haematology, palliative medicine and radiation oncology. Incorporated within these are strong undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programs.

 

About the role

This role will be recruited for a 6 month or 18 month period.

The role focuses on In-Patient Care, Day Oncology, Out Patients, Meetings and Teaching. A regular day will see you:

  • Manage oncology in-patient care with supervision of ward consultants.
  • Responsibility for prescribing oncology therapies (including chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy).
  • Attend rostered out-patient clinics.

 

About you

As the Medical Oncology Registrar, You will be someone who has excellent communication skills, with a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. You’ll bring energy and drive to your work, and have a keen interest in

developing your skillset.

 

To be successful in this role, you'll bring with you:

  • Appropriate tertiary medical qualifications including successful completion of the RACP written examination.
  • Minimum one-year post-graduate medical experience.
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) (note- eligible applicants will be assisted through this process).
  • Dedication to delivering excellent service – to patients, all colleagues (nursing, medical, managerial, support staff), GPs and other contact points.
