About the Immunology Department
The Immunology Department provides high-quality diagnostic testing, expert advice, and support for research and teaching activities. Austin Pathology delivers comprehensive pathology services including Immunology, Anatomical Pathology, Biochemistry, Haematology, Microbiology, and Molecular Diagnostics.
About the role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Laboratory Technician to join our Immunology team on a full-time, fixed-term basis until February 2026.
This is an excellent entry-level opportunity to gain experience in a specialist diagnostic laboratory using automation and instrumentation. You will be supported by experienced staff and receive training in routine laboratory techniques and quality processes.
A regular day will see you:
- Preparation and processing of specimens according to laboratory protocols
- Operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of automated instrumentation
- Loading and monitoring of samples for analysis
- Performing and documenting quality control procedures
- Assisting with general laboratory duties and housekeeping
About you
To be successful in this role you’ll bring with you:
- Diploma in Laboratory Technology, Applied Science, or equivalent qualification
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining quality and accuracy
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- A collaborative, team-focused approach
- Enthusiasm for learning and developing new laboratory skills
Desirable (but not essential):
- Prior experience in a diagnostic laboratory
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems or automated testing platforms
