The Austin Health Physiotherapy Department is positioned within the Allied Health Division of Austin Health. About the role

As the Physiotherapy Manager, you will lead Austin Health's Physiotherapy Department, providing strategic, professional and operational leadership across a large and diverse workforce delivering services in acute, subacute, ambulatory and community settings. You will drive excellence in clinical practice, workforce development, research, quality improvement and service innovation, while fostering a high-performing culture built on collaboration, wellbeing and continuous improvement.

You will:

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for Austin Health's Physiotherapy Department, ensuring high-quality, contemporary services across acute, subacute, ambulatory and community settings.
• Lead service innovation and transformation, driving the development of contemporary models of care that improve patient outcomes, workforce experience, access and service efficiency.
• Build and lead a high-performing workforce, fostering a culture of excellence, wellbeing, inclusion, professional growth and succession planning across a large and diverse team.
• Oversee operational performance and financial management, ensuring effective workforce planning, resource allocation, budget stewardship and achievement of key service outcomes.
• Champion research, innovation and evidence-based practice, strengthening research capability and translating findings into meaningful improvements in patient care and service delivery.

About you

In this influential leadership role, you will inspire a workforce of over 100 clinicians, champion wellbeing and workforce sustainability, drive research and innovation, and lead the development of contemporary models of care across the patient journey. You will have passion for and experience in; service redesign, evidence translation and transformational leadership.  

You’ll also bring with you:

• Proven leadership experience leading large, complex physiotherapy or allied health services within a public healthcare environment.
• A track record of driving innovation and service improvement, including workforce redesign, contemporary models of care and transformational change initiatives.
• Strong strategic and operational management skills, with demonstrated experience in workforce planning, service delivery, financial management and achieving organisational outcomes.
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence, collaborate and build strong relationships across multidisciplinary teams and external partners.
• A commitment to research, quality and evidence-based practice, with experience leading quality improvement initiatives that enhance patient outcomes and service excellence.
