About the Business Intelligence Unit

The Data Analytics & Reporting team supports the operational areas of Austin Health with detailed dashboards and analytics.  In the medium term there is a large data warehouse project underway which requires this team to work closely with the other teams to validate new data tables and repoint and re-build dashboards.   

 

About the role

 

We have an exciting opportunity for a senior business intelligence manager to join our team at Austin Health. With a rebuild of the data warehouse and all reporting underway, we need an experienced manager who can co-ordinate the team to deliver new dashboards, user training and user acceptance testing of the new data warehouse. The role reports to the Director, BIU.

 

A regular day will see you:

 

  • Co-ordinating user acceptance testing of the new data warehouse
  • Desgining new dashboards
  • Triaging requests and queries from the business

 

About you

You will be someone who has excellent communication and leadership skills, with a strong commitment to

excellence in patient care. You’ll bring energy and drive to your work, and have a keen interest in

developing your business intelligence skills.

 

To be successful in this role, you'll bring with you:

 

  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Extensive experience in management of analytical and reporting teams;
  • Microsoft Business Intelligence reporting suite experience, including T-SQL;
  • Analytical & problem-solving skills with good attention to detail

 

Reporting

  • Manage a team of business intelligence/report developers and data scientists;
  • Development and production of dashboards, reports and papers to inform executive, board, and senior management on key operational issues;
  • Consistently review the relevance, quality and accuracy of insights from the team;
  • Providing accurate and timely activity & performance reporting for Austin Health;
  • Pro-actively using data to provide analytical reporting and to deliver insights to our clinical leaders;
  • Identify and implement best practice methodologies in reporting and analytics for the organisation;
  • Coordination of user acceptance testing and report repointing for a new data warehouse;
  • Management of the Austin Reporting Portal and PowerBI workspaces

 

Other

  • Act as Delegate to the Director, Business Intelligence Unit;
  • Assist with the mentoring and up-skilling of other members of the BIU team.
  • Actively define relevant KPI’s for staff and contribute to the Austin Health Performance Review Process;
  • Attend to ad hoc data, reporting & analytical requests;
  • Other duties as required.
