About the GATES Unit:  

Austin Health is seeking expressions of interest from experienced Consultant General Surgeons to join the General and Emergency Trauma Surgery (GATES) Unit in a locum capacity.The GATES Unit delivers a consultant-led model of care focused on timely access to emergency general surgery and Level 2 trauma.

 

About the role

This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic, high-acuity setting as part of a committed multidisciplinary team. The unit is also actively involved in surgical education and research. Applicants must hold FRACS in General Surgery, be AHPRA-registered, and have recent general surgical experience including acute trauma management. A demonstrated commitment to teamwork, education and high-quality patient care is essential.

 

This is a casual position remunerated under the AMA Victoria – Victorian Public Health Sector Medical Specialists Agreement.

  • Have appropriate training and experience applicable to the field of General Surgery - General and Trauma Emergency Services (GATES) unit.
  • Be a registered Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
