About the Pharmacy Department

The Pharmacy Department sits within the Division of the Chief Medical Officer and provides comprehensive high-quality care to Austin Health patients and supports other members of the healthcare team in all aspects of medicines management. The department consists of a skilled team of pharmacists, technicians and support staff working across all three campuses of Austin Health to ensure patients receive excellent care

 

About the role 

We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and forward-thinking Lead Pharmacy Technician to help drive excellence in technician practice, support service expansion, and contribute to high quality patient care across our organisation.

 

This is a brand-new leadership opportunity within our pharmacy department which will play a pivotal role in guiding and developing our pharmacy technician team across Austin Health. This role is ideal for a technician who is passionate about leadership, workforce development, and advancing the scope and capability of the technician profession.

 

In this new role, you will:

  • Provide day to day leadership, support, and supervision for the pharmacy technician and support staff workforce.
  • Coordinate the provision of safe, efficient and innovative services
  • Ensure workforce capability, capacity and credentials
  • Support the development of strategic goals ensuring the delivery of safe, timely, evidence based care
  • Act as a key point of contact for workforce planning and operational coordination.

 

About you 

You will be someone who has excellent communication skills, with a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. You’ll bring energy and drive to your work, and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.

 

To be successful in this role you’ll bring with you:

  • A minimum of 6 years’ experience as a Pharmacy Technician and demonstrated experience in a leadership capacity.
  • Managerial and leadership experience, including financial, human resource and workforce skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills including communication, negotiation, team building and conflict resolution skills.
  • A commitment to patient safety and excellence
  • Capacity to perform under pressure, to meet time constraints and determine work priorities.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of all relevant aspects of hospital pharmacy services.
  • A commitment to continuing education and the ability to keep abreast of current knowledge and accepted practices
