About Austin Health Pathology Swan Hill
Austin Health Pathology Swan Hill is a dynamic and growing department within Austin Health, located in regional Victoria, dedicated to delivering high-quality diagnostic services to Swan Hill District Health and surrounds. We proudly support Austin Health, the Mercy Hospital for Women, and a wide network of GPs and specialists.
We are currently expanding into the Hume and Loddon Mallee regions, strengthening our presence and accessibility in regional communities through a network of laboratories, collection centres and point-of-care services.
About the role
The Specimen Reception Laboratory Assistant is a vital role within our pathology services.
A regular day will see you:
- Register patient information and specimen details into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) with high accuracy and efficiency.
- Prepare samples for analysis by centrifuging, aliquoting, ensuring they meet requirements for manual or automated equipment as applicable.
- Co-ordinate with other laboratory personnel to ensure smooth workflow and timely processing of samples.
About you
To be successful in this role you’ll bring with you:
- Work flexibility
- Strong attention to detail and sound organisational skills
- Experience in handling, sorting, and preparing pathology specimens
- Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team to ensure efficient workflow and timely processing of samples
- Ability to follow strict protocols and accreditation standards for specimen processing and patient confidentiality
- Be available to work a range of shifts, including weekends as required to meet service demand. Shift patterns and hours may vary depending on operational requirements.
