About the Echuca Laboratory
Austin Health Pathology is a department of Austin Health and provides service to not only Austin Health and the co-located Mercy Hospital for Women, but also to numerous GPs and Specialists in the metropolitan and regional community. Austin Health Pathology is currently expanding into the Hume, Loddon Mallee and Goulburn Valley areas of regional Victoria, with laboratories in Shepparton, Mildura, Echuca and Swan Hill, and a point-of-care network.
Austin Health Pathology, Echuca Laboratory is a core laboratory offering services of Biochemistry, Haematology and Transfusion. The Echuca Laboratory supports Echuca Regional Health and provides services to the surrounding hospitals of Cohuna and Rochester. We have an outpatient clinic to supporting the wider community for their Pathology needs next door to the laboratory.
About the role
The Echuca Laboratory is seeking a keen professional to join our team. We are currently looking to fill a casual role within our specimen reception department. This role although initially casual would potentially lead to more permanent hours within the next 12 months due to retirement of a longstanding staff member.
A regular day will see you:
- Sort and distribute all samples as they arrive into the laboratory
- Register specimens and request details into the Laboratory Information System (LIS)
- Process samples for testing and deliver to the laboratory
- Package up samples for sending onto our main laboratory in Heidelberg
- Answer the phone and deal with any enquiries this may present.
About you
You will be someone who has excellent communication skills, with a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. You’ll bring energy and drive to your work and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.
To be successful in this role you’ll bring with you:

- Ability to work with minimal supervision and in a team situation.
