- 12-month parental leave cover position, full time

About the department
Austin Health Pathology is a dynamic and growing department within Austin Health, dedicated to delivering high-quality diagnostic services across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria. We proudly support Austin Health, the Mercy Hospital for Women, and a wide network of GPs and specialists.
We are currently expanding into the Hume and Loddon Mallee regions, strengthening our presence and accessibility in regional communities through a network of laboratories, collection centers and point-of-care services.
About the role
A regular day will see you:
- Register patient information and specimen details into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) with high accuracy and efficiency.
- Prepare samples for analysis by centrifuging, aliquoting, ensuring they meet requirements for manual or automated equipment as applicable.
- Co-ordinate with other laboratory personnel to ensure smooth workflow and timely processing of samples.
- Work a range of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and overnight, as required to meet service demand. Shift patterns and hours may vary depending on operational requirements.
About you
To be successful in this role you’ll bring with you:
- Strong attention to detail and sound organisational skills
- Experience in handling, sorting, and preparing pathology specimens.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team to ensure efficient workflow and timely processing of samples.
- Ability to follow strict protocols and accreditation standards for specimen processing and patient confidentiality.
