About the Sterilizing Services department
Austin Health Sterilizing Services (CSSD) departments are located on two separate campuses.
Austin Campus CSSD provides a service for 11 busy operating rooms, Endoscopy, Hospital wards, which include areas such as ICU, Emergency departments and outpatient clinics.
Repatriation Campus CSSD provides a service for 8 busy operating rooms, Endoscopy, wards as well as provide equipment to hospital wards as well as their outpatient clinics.
About the role
Opportunity has become available for a Grade 3 Instrument Technician to join our team. The applicants must be able to Demonstrate knowledge and competency in cleaning, disinfecting and sterilizing Reusable Medical Devices (RMD) in accordance with AS5369-2023 guidelines.
A regular day will see you:
- Ensure that sterile supplies are stored and handled according to Standard
- Communicate with relevant staff when equipment is faulty.
- Use of lifting devices or appropriate equipment available in the department to reduce risk of manual handling.
- Work with staff to co-ordinate and priorities processing of equipment to enable the provision of optimal patient care.
About you
To be successful in this role, you'll bring with you:
- Certificate III in Health Sterilization with 1+ years' experience in Sterilizing Services in a hospital setting.
- Current knowledge and expertise in Electronic Tracking System of Reusable Devices process.
- Knowledge and understanding of all Microsoft applications.
- Flexible in all shifts including night shift.
