About the Health, Safety & Wellbeing Department

The Health, Safety & Wellbeing department sits within the People & Culture directorate at Austin Health. It is based at Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital, and is responsible for providing advisory services, strategic direction and planning for the workforce health, safety and wellbeing across all campuses, covering approximately 11,000 employees.

Key areas of responsibility include occupational health and safety management systems; injury management and return to work; workforce wellbeing; and emergency preparedness and business continuity.

About the role 

As the Injury & Recovery Specialist, you will be a seasoned injury management professional, who effectively supports all Austin Health staff with all aspects of Injury Management, including work related and non-work-related injuries. You will ensure that injured staff are provided with the highest level of support to assist with their recovery and achieve sustainable return to work outcomes.

A regular day will see you:   

• Support staff with early intervention support, post injury.
• Interact with a variety of internal and external stakeholders across Austin Health’s main sites, including line managers, rehabilitation providers, treating practitioners and any key individuals involved in best practice return to work.
• Work collaboratively in a team environment to improve overall and sustainable return to work outcomes for staff.

About you 

To be successful in this role you’ll bring with you:

• Proven experience in workers compensation, injury management, or occupational rehabilitation, with a strong understanding of claims processes and return-to-work practices.
• Exceptional relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage, influence and collaborate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to shared goals and positive outcomes.
• Highly developed interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to manage sensitive situations professionally and constructively.
