About Hospital in the Home & Virtual Care
Hospital in the Home & Virtual Care (HITH-VC) provides admitted patient care in the comfort of a person's home or other suitable location. Our service supports a wide range of clinical interventions, including:
- IV medication administration via CVAD devices
- Heart failure management
- Complex wound care
- Chemotherapy de-accessing
- Post-operative management
- Virtual care supported by wearable technology
- And many other treatment pathways that enable hospital-level care at home
About the role
This a Grade 2 administration role, known as the HITH Technician, and is a vital member of our multidisciplinary team. The role supports the logistics behind delivering safe and effective care at home and works closely with nursing and pharmacy staff. The HITH Technician:
- Plays a key role in supporting the safe, efficient delivery of Hospital in the Home and Virtual Care services by coordinating the equipment, consumables, medications, and technology that enable patients to receive hospital-level care at home
- Works collaboratively with nursing, pharmacy, ICT, supply teams, external providers, patients and carers to ensure timely access to resources, support patient flow, and contribute to high-quality, innovative models of care
A regular day will see you:
- Manage and maintain HITH & Virtual Care stock, including ordering, replenishment, storage, rotation, and preparation of patient stock kits across Austin and Repat campuses.
- Coordinate the delivery of equipment, consumables, and medications to clinics, offices, and patients' homes, working closely with nursing, pharmacy, patients, carers, suppliers, and courier services.
- Support patient care by sourcing and preparing stock and equipment required for home-based and virtual care services.
- Track, maintain, clean, audit, and coordinate repairs for clinical equipment, infusion pumps, and digital devices used across the service.
- Provide operational and administrative support, including documentation, equipment tracking, pharmacy paperwork, and liaison with ICT and external providers to ensure smooth day-to-day service delivery.

- Comfort in learning and using multiple systems - Teams, Oracle (order management system) and several others
- Comfort in a hands-on role that includes regular walking between departments, packing and unpacking stock, moving boxes and equipment, and safely undertaking the physical requirements of the position.
