About Spinal Rehab Facility
The Victorian Spinal Cord Service (VSCS) is a statewide program that delivers comprehensive care for individuals with traumatic and selected non-traumatic spinal cord injuries across Victoria, Tasmania, and southern New South Wales. It provides support from the acute management of injury, rehab, community and outpatient support.
About the role
This role offers a meaningful opportunity to support patients recovering from spinal cord injuries. As a Health Care Worker (HCW), you will assist the healthcare team, particularly registered and enrolled nurses, by providing delegated aspects of patient care.
This is a permanent, part time role working 30.40 hours (4 days) per week. You will work on a flexible roster that may include morning and evening shifts on both weekdays and weekends.
A regular day will see you:
- Support patients with daily living activities, including:
- Personal hygiene
- Nutrition and feeding
- Mobility, transfers, and positioning
- Elimination needs
- Assist with bed-making and general tidiness of the unit
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team
About you
You will be someone who has excellent communication skills, with a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. You’ll bring energy and drive to your work, and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.
To be successful in this role you’ll bring with you:
- Hold a Certificate III Health Assistant (Nursing) – Commenced after January 2013.
- Positive attitude.
- Ability to use initiative and to prioritise tasks and problem solve.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- A willingness to contribute to quality patient care.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills, including an ability to communicate effectively with other staff, patients and families.
- Commitment to a professional work ethic.
